Formula BT® (Energy Materials)



It's not only a product, it’s a philosophy

The name Formula BT® encompasses carbon and graphitic powders developed and manufactured by Superior Graphite primarily for use in the electrical energy marketplace. Formula BT® takes advantage of the unique continuous thermopurification treatment patented by Superior Graphite. This electro-thermal process exposes the raw materials, such as natural flake or vein graphite, synthetic graphite and various coke products to temperatures up to 2800ºC so that the volatiles, gases and impurities are vaporized.

A variety of milling and classification processes coupled with mechanical and chemical treatments complete the competencies of Superior Graphite. This know-how and capability is focused to provide the market with consistently high performance products.

Our Materials Management Department assures not only the optimal supply of raw materials but also evaluates, in unison with development and production, new sources and suppliers on a worldwide basis.

In order to provide the best properties for each application the Formula BT® product family has been divided into five different groups.

Expanded Graphite Powder

High purity expanded graphite with defined particle size distributions in the range of 10 to 50 microns.

Spherical Graphite Designated for Li-rechargeable & Li-polymer Batteries

Characteristics (Spherical Graphite Designated for Li-rechargeable & Li-polymer Batteries)

High purity flake graphite, with spheroidal particle shape (Mango shaped), high packing density, low surface area. Defined particle size distributions in the range of d50 10 micron to d50 20 micron Special surface treatment to increase stability.

distributions in the range 10 microns up to 1000 microns
Purity: >99.95 % C.
