Crystalline Flake Graphite

Flakes within a host rock or matrix, usually metamorphic quartzo-feldspathic gneisses, and sometimes limestones and marbles, and typically PreCambrian in age. Some theories as to the origin of the carbon include single celled organisms forming algal beds, and Boudouard Reaction, the reduction of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and carbon.
